Transmitting Files to/from Communications and Creative Services
There are various options for transmitting files to and from Communications and
Creative Services. The appropriate option is based on the kind of file and the size
of the file.
Text files, files from word-processing programs, and PDF files (Adobe Acrobat's
Portable Document Format) transmit well as attachments to e-mails. Most e-mail programs
have a limit to the size of the file that can be attached; however, these limits
usually are adequate for these types of files.
Graphic file formats such as TIF and EPS and files from specific applications such
as PageMaker and Illustrator can be corrupted as e-mail attachments and can be very
large in size. Options for transmitting such files include:
- FTP - Communications and Creative Services has an FTP server. Contact your
Communications Coordinator
for information about transmitting files via FTP, or refer to our
FTP Information page.
- ZIP - Some workstations in our prepress area are equipped with ZIP drives (100MB
capacity) for receiving or sending files.
- CD - Each of the prepress workstations is equipped with a CD reader/writer (640MB
capacity).
- 1.44MB (3.5") diskette.
It is important that all files and media transmitted to Communications and Creative
Services be virus-free. While Communications and Creative Services does scan all
files and media it receives, all files and media on which viruses are detected will
be rejected, and further progress on the job will be stopped until clean files are
received.
Remember to provide or FAX (970-491-6433) printouts of all files transmitted to
Communications and Creative Services. Please indicate filenames on each copy.
